The role of Sacristan is to prepare the things necessary for the celebration of the liturgy; the books, the vessels, the bread and the wine. But the Sacristan does more than prepare the things needed for worship...the Sacristan’s reverent, prayerful preparation can remind the entire assembly to prepare their hearts for worship.
Adults and those teenagers who have made their Confirmation are invited to serve as Sacristan for our liturgies. In order to effectively prepare for the liturgy, it is necessary for the Sacristan to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the service they are scheduled for.
One on one training with a seasoned Sacristan is required. Once training is complete, Sacristans are scheduled at the mass time of their preference based on their availability.
