The Parish Finance Council assists the Pastor, the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Commissions, and the Parish staff in making decisions regarding the financial and material assets of the parish to achieve the goals of the parish. The Parish Finance Council works hand in hand with the Parish Pastoral Council.
The Parish Finance Council is responsible for:
Working with the Pastor, PPC, Commissions and parish staff to prepare a realistic and balanced budget for each fiscal year;
Monitors progress to that budget throughout the year and recommends adjustments as needed to maintain a sound financial position;
Reviewing and consenting to certain transactions, as dictated by Archdiocesan guidelines.
The Parish Finance Council must have a minimum of 3 members and a maximum of 9 members, excluding the Pastor who is the non-voting president of the PFC. Members are appointed by the pastor and generally serve two year renewable terms. People with backgrounds in accounting, finance, law, human resources and business are especially needed.
