Once again, our parish Lenten almsgiving opportunity will be a “baby bottle” collection effort consisting of having “baby bottles” available to fill with coins during Lent.
The way it works is that these “baby bottles” are essentially little “banks” that will be available in the gathering area on the first weekend of Lent, March 9 th and 10th. If you would like to participate, take a bottle home with you that weekend; and, during the course of Lent, drop your loose change or bills into the bottle. This could be money you would otherwise spend on yourself for coffee or lunch or some other thing you could easily put off. This can be your "sacrifice" for Lent! The money collected will be used to support others instead.
On Palm Sunday weekend, April 13th and 14th, return your “baby bottles” to church and they will be collected at all Masses that weekend. Please remember that any bottle taken must be returned. Some of you like to write checks and insert them into the bottles. That's wonderful, just be sure to make the check payable to
AAA Pregnancy Resource Center.
All money raised from this project will go to AAA Pregnancy Resource Center in Livonia. They are a non-denominational Christian based service center that relies completely on donations for support. They provide great assistance to expectant mothers and fathers facing tough decisions about the future.
Members of our Msgr. Clement Kern Council of the Knights of Columbus and our parish Pro-Life Committee will be helping us with this Lenten project.
