FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SCRIP PROGRAM
What is SCRIP?
Scrip is a way for companies to support the fundraising efforts of nonprofits. You purchase gift cards to companies where you already shop. The companies that participate furnish these gift cards at less than cost and donate the difference to a non-profit (like St. Thomas a'Becket). For example, you purchase a $10 gift card to Starbucks through us. Starbucks gives St. Thomas a'Becket 7% of the purchase price of each $10 gift card. (We get $.70 for each $10 gift card purchased.) You can use these gift cards at all the stores you normally patronize while supporting our World Youth Day pilgrims.
Is there a difference between SCRIP and regular gift cards?
The gift cards look identical to those that you would purchase in the store. They spend the same. The only difference is that we make a profit from each gift card purchased through SCRIP. Everyone wins!
When are orders placed? What is the turnaround time on orders?

How often are orders placed?
Orders are placed once a month. Each month, the Chancellor will feature an order form. Return your order form with payment (cash or checks made payable to St. Thomas a'Becket with SCRIP in the memo line) by the due date indicated.
How do I receive the gift cards I ordered?
Check the order form for order deadlines and pick-up dates. Our World Youth Day pilgrims will have your gift cards ready for pick-up after every Mass on the allotted pick-up date. If you are unable to make it to Mass that weekend, you may pick up your order in the Parish Office during normal business hours.

Who can participate?
Anyone can purchase gift cards through us. There are no membership or application fees. You can participate as often as you like.
What forms of payment are accepted?
We accept cash or checks made payable to St. Thomas a'Becket with SCRIP written in the memo line. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept credit cards.
Is there a way to purchase gift cards online?
If you set up an account with Shopwithscrip.com, you can order scrip online. To set up your account, visit www.shopwithscrip.com and enter the St. Thomas a'Becket enrollment code: L5B73F4525841. When you are finished ordering your gift cards, you will have the option to submit your check to the church directly or to set up an account with PrestoPay, which allows you to debit the money directly from your bank account. To set up a PrestoPay account, log into your shopwithscrip.com account and click on the PrestoPay link in the left menu.
Can I support more than one organization ?
Absolutely! Many schools, sports teams, etc. use Scrip as a part of their fundraising efforts. You can support more than one organization with your purchases.

How does St. Thomas a'Becket use the profits?
This year, the funds we have collected will be spent sending our teens to the the National Catholic Youth Conference. We will also be saving for future World Youth Day trips. Find out more about World Youth Day.

Funds are used to support all participants in our trips.
