FAMILY HOME STUDY FOR GRADES 1-7
St. Thomas a Becket offers two ways for your child to complete his/her faith formation studies. Our traditional method is classroom based instruction. The other method is the Family Home Study Program. You, the parent or guardian, are the teacher. Your child will complete one workbook chapter a week under your guidance. A syllabus and calendar are provided to keep you on track and focused during the year. This is a flexible option because you choose the day of the week and time that you will do your faith formation studies with your child. It is also a wonderful way for the family to learn together and grow more in faith.

There are two requirements for families involved in Family Home Study:

• Students must complete and submit a finished workbook;
• Families must attend a minimum of FOUR meetings, not including the required organizational meeting on September 25, at 7:00 PM. Download the entire list of meetings for the 2012-2013 year or visit the meeting page for online options.

ABOUT THE HOME STUDY MEETINGS
You MUST attend a minimum of four meetings a year. We provide these meetings in order to provide children with some of the community benefits of classroom based instruction. We also want to support parents as catechists, and to provide families with the opportunity to celebrate their faith together. Learn more about the required meetings.

ABOUT OUR TEXTBOOK SERIES
We use the textbook series Be My Disciples for Grades 1-6. Be My Disciples has a number of resources for parents, as well as an area for students to reinforce the lessons they have learned in the book. Check out the online offerings for primary grades (1-3) or for intermediate grades (4-6). Our 7th and 8th graders use the Faith First series. Check out the Faith First Teen Center for Grades 7-8.
