St. Thomas a'Becket observes a unique selection process for members who wish to join the Parish Pastoral Council. The Council is made up of nine at large members, each of whom serve three year terms. The terms are staggered so that each year, one-third of the at-large members' terms expire. Three alternates are also selected. The alternates serve in the event that one of the PPC members must step down. In addition to the at-large members, the PPC contains a representative from each of the four Commissions (Christian Service, Faith Formation, Stewardship and Worship), as well as a representative from the Evangelization Committee and a Youth representative.
Persons who wish to join PPC are encouraged to speak with Fr. Tom or with the current PPC Chair to learn more about the responsibilities of the PPC, as well as how to submit an application.
Each year at Pentecost, we call upon the Holy Spirit to guide us as the names of all interested applicants are placed into a hat. Fr. Tom draws out three names, as well as three alternates. Those selected join the Parish Pastoral Council. We are so grateful to our parishioners for giving so generously of their time and pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit to stir our PPC members to great work.
