DISABILITY CONCERNS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The following questions and answers are in a familiar format within which we are communicating how St. Thomas a'Becket is responding to needs of our disabled brethren. If you have a question that is not answered here, please contact the Parish Office and we will get an answer to your question. If you have any feedback or comments, please leave a message for the Disability Concerns Committee chairperson in the Parish Office.

1. I have difficulty hearing at Mass or services when I’m at St. Thomas a’Becket. What can I do?
2. I am in a wheelchair and have difficulties finding a location to attend Mass. What should I do?
3. I am disabled and cannot find a parking spot. What should I do?
4. When I see someone with a medical problem, what should I do?
5. I find it hard to walk from the parking lot to the church without somewhere to rest. Do you have a place for me to sit?
6. I sometimes have problems breathing. Is there a nurse on the premises?
7. I have a rolling walker. Where do I sit so that I won’t be in the way of others?
8. I am in a wheelchair. Who do I see to receive communion? Will someone come to me?
9. I have problems reading small print. Can I get a large print copy of the bulletin? How do I get them?
10. I am deaf. Do you have someone to sign the Mass?
11. My child has a cognitive impairment; however, I would like to have him/her participate in the regular Faith Formation Program. What do I do?
12. My child with special needs would like to get involved with the Youth Group or Choir. What should I do?
13. I have a family member/friend who is cognitively impaired and would like to have a more spiritual involvement with the Parish. What can I do?
