CLW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How can I get involved in the CLW Program?

Children's Liturgy of the Word could not exist without the dedication, commitment and talent of our fabulous volunteers. Thanks to their help, the children in our parish are able to focus on and appreciate the Word of God.
There are basically two types of volunteers: CLW Leaders and CLW Assistants. CLW Leaders lead the Liturgy of the Word, teach (and reinforce) appropriate responses, read the Gospel, and prepare a homily experience for the children. There are two CLW Leaders at every Mass.
CLW Assistants help the children focus on the Liturgy of the Word, assist in bringing the children to and from the main assembly, and have specific tasks for room preparation and cleanup (e.g., blowing out the candle when we leave). CLW Assistants do not need to prepare before Mass and may leave immediately after Mass.
Volunteering in the CLW program does NOT take a big time commitment. Volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to Mass to assist in the setup of the liturgy space. Volunteers sign up on a semester long basis and commit to the number of Masses that fit their schedule and only to the dates that work for them.
CLW volunteers are reliable, have a love of children, a passion for God's Word, and receive training materials prior to working the CLW program. If this sounds like something for you, please email CLW Director Jen Monforton at clw@abecket.org for more information.
